about

Bio-motivated computation, spiking neural networks, and neuromorphic hardware are a fascinating line of inquiry in computer science.

Taking on graduate introductory coursework in this area was very rewarding. Unsupervised learning built via spiking network topology still blows my mind, and itโ€™s become the topic of an ongoing project that began in the classroom.

The Project

I set out to build and visualize a simulation of beat induction, or rhythm perception using a spiking neural network. Specifically, modeling a network that can exhibit a โ€œfinger-tapโ€ response to an audio file that closely tracks its labeled beat signature.

Under this topic, Iโ€™ll be posting progress updates, code, and some interesting things learned along the way.
